What Is Dysport?

Dysport is a prescription injection similar to Botox or Juvederm that is used for the purposes of improving fine lines and wrinkles on the face. It contains a slightly different formulation of the same substance that is used in typical Botox, which uses the Botulinum Toxin A. Some research suggests that Dysport works quicker than Botox and produces longer lasting effects. The purpose of Dysport is to temporarily paralyze the muscles that result in moderate to severe wrinkles between the brows. These lines are often referred to as “frown lines” or “the elevens,” because they look like two vertical lines between the eyebrows when the person frowns.

Who Is Dysport For?

Dysport is ideal for individuals less than 65 years of age. If you have severe deep wrinkling, this product may not work for you. Dysport works well for individuals experiencing moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows. Dysport is not for people who have had surgeries on their face, or if they have weak muscles in the area receiving treatment. Individuals with deep facial scarring do not present as good candidates for Dysport. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should not use Dysport. People with neurological disorders should consult their plastic surgeon or dermatologist before using Dysport.

The Benefits of Dysport

Dysport is hugely beneficial for men and women with moderate to severe “frown lines” between their eyebrows. A major benefit of Dysport is that it does not significantly alter the appearance of your face, but instead temporarily improves the appearance of frown lines. Unlike Botox, you won’t experience the “frozen face” look that often comes across as exceedingly artificial and fake-looking. Dysport users love that they get to retain their natural look while still improving their facial features. Another benefit of Dysport is that the treatment is extremely quick – less than 30 minutes. With results lasting for up to four months, treatment only needs to be repeated a few times a year. Dysport is a convenient and low-maintenance treatment for frown lines.

How Does Dysport Work?

Dysport reduces the muscle activity of specific muscles on the face that result in wrinkling or noticeable lines. Wrinkles occur in young and older adults, and are caused mainly through repetitive motion and contraction of certain muscle. Dysport is a targeted injection in five points between the eyebrows and above the brow line. It serves to temporarily prevent the contractions which result in wrinkles or “frown lines” between the eyebrows. A huge benefit of Dysport is that you don’t result in a frozen face, which is a common complaint of Botox users. You’ll maintain your natural beauty and won’t look artificial. The treatment takes less than 30 minutes, a perfect lunchtime treat. With little occurrence of side effects or immediate irritation, you can even head back to work after receiving treatment. Results may last up to four months, with immediate results within two to three days following the treatment.
