Thigh Lift Cosmetic Surgery
Thigh lift also known as “thighplasty” is a surgical procedure that reshapes the thighs by reducing excess skin, and in some cases fat, resulting in smoother skin and better-proportioned contours of the thighs and lower body. The Thigh Lift is a cosmetic surgery procedure designed to tighten the skin of the thigh and reduce sagging in the inner or outer thighs. The procedure is commonly performed on patients with massive weight loss, but it is also performed on people who have not experienced weight loss. This is often desirable after substantial or bariatric weight loss or in individuals for whom dieting and exercise has failed to reduce excess tissue in their upper thighs.
If fitness and weight loss efforts have not achieved your goals for a body that is firmer, more youthful-looking and more proportionate to your overall body image, a surgical lift may be right for you. Thigh lifts are not intended strictly for the removal of excess fat. Liposuction alone can remove excess fat deposits where skin has good elasticity and is able to naturally conform to new body contours. Liposuction may be used as an adjunct to the re-contouring of the inner thigh. If you are committed to maintaining a healthy lifestyle and a moderate weight, a thigh lift can help you regain the youthful thigh contours you desire. In cases where skin elasticity is poor, a combination of liposuction and thigh lift techniques may be recommended.
Thigh lift surgery is generally performed as an outpatient procedure with the use of general anesthesia. The incision patterns your plastic surgeon will use vary on the area or areas to be treated, degree of correction and patient and surgeon preference. Thigh lift surgery usually requires an overnight stay in hospital as it is performed under general anesthetic and takes between two and three hours to complete. To perform the surgery your surgeon will make an incision around the top of the thigh (near the groin) before pulling the excess skin upwards, stitching it into its new position and trimming the excess. The result is smooth thighs that show the results of your weight loss.
In general, candidates for a thigh lift are:
- People whose weight is relatively stable
- Individuals with excess soft tissue along the inner or medial thigh region and/or the outer thigh
- Healthy individuals who do not have medical conditions that impair healing or increase risk of surgery
- Individuals with a positive outlook and realistic goals for what thigh lift surgery can accomplish
- Individuals committed to leading a healthy lifestyle, including proper nutrition and fitness
Thigh lift surgery is performed to remove this excess skin to leave the thigh area tight and smooth, and giving you the body confidence you deserve. Thigh lift surgery helps to create a more proportionate figure and hence make clothes buying much more enjoyable. It improves the body contour when seen through tight fitting clothes, and also helps people to feel more youthful by improving their skin appearance.
